The 5 O’clock Shadow’s band is made up of 7 talented musicians from St. Mary Parish and the surrounding area. Most of them have been playing for at least 20 to 30 years. The band consists of two keyboard players one playing piano and the other playing organ. It also has a bass player, a drummer, and a guitar player who is also a singer. It has a three horn section consisting of two tenor saxophones and one trumpet player. This horn section is what makes the 5 O’clock Shadows unique.
All members of the band played with different bands back in the late 1950’s and early 1960’s. The main style of music back then was Rock & Roll and a horn section was common place.
Most bands playing today consist of mostly 4 to 5 members and do not have a horn section. Some may have a saxophone player but most don’t.
The 5 O’clock Shadows are dedicated to keeping Rock & Roll music of the 50’s and 60’s alive for the younger and older generations.
